The personal home of two Architectural Digest-recognized designers, 50 King Street, Residence 6AB is a gut-renovated, immaculately executed split two-bedroom home located centrally in the Charlton-King-Vandam Historic District. Thoughtful and meticulous, Residence 6AB combines two adjacent units to create an open, flexible layout with three bright exposures.
Enter the home through the mahogany-paneled door, where southern light and treetop views complement the exquisite black Indian limestone floors, which are found throughout the home. Large art walls and the open layout belie the typical scale of a two-bedroom home, creating ample room for lounging, entertaining, cooking and dining. Accents, such as a raw concrete column and floating shelves, add texture and dimension.
The kitchen, much like the rest of the home, is appointed to the finest level. Windows to the south and east shine against the leather-finish Absolute Black granite countertops. The fixtures are from Waterworks, and there is a top-tier appliance package, including a standalone ice maker. Ample cabinet space and open shelving make this both elegant and functional. A dedicated dining area, bounded on one side by the trees on King Street, on another by the same warm mahogany in the entryway, and on the third by the kitchen peninsula, comfortably seats 8.
The principal bedroom suite occupies the full west wing of the home. The bedroom faces south for soft, all-day light. Built-in mahogany nightstands complete with reading lights add a touch of warmth. Vitsoe open shelving and a floating bureau are perfect for organizing books, accessories, and ephemera. A large, windowed dressing room with two closets comfortably accommodates a robust wardrobe.
